Comfort air conditioning in office buildings TROX shows new air terminal devices and advanced air-water systems at ISH 

At ISH 2017, TROX presents under the theme of 'The TROX Principle' once again a range of innovative and optimised systems, units and components.

Networked worlds – networked systems

Increasing urbanisation is accompanied by a need to constantly adapt buildings to changing use. This is why TROX has developed integrated ventilation and air conditioning systems which respond to changing requirements in real time. They ensure the provision of the required air quality on demand as well as maximum building safety, and then independent of the building type or usage.

X-AIRCONTROL demand-based room control system

One focus of TROX at ISH 2017 are comfort air conditioning systems, illustrated by example of an office building. Good indoor air quality is not only conducive to the well-being of the occupants, but also increases their performance. X-AIRCONTROL ensures the smooth interaction of all the components such that this good air quality is maintained. Sensors measure occupancy, air quality and temperature, and the measured values are used to condition the indoor air based on demand. Zone master modules allow for expanding the system and provide interfaces to the central BMS and for remote maintenance. X-AIRCONTROL is very flexible and thanks to plug and play also easy to install and set up.

X-AIRCONTROL can be used to control up to individual 125 rooms or zones. Up to 125 zones can be linked when X-AIRCONTROL is combined with X-CUBE control, the control system for air handling units; this is ideal for small and medium-sized buildings.

RFD 'four-in-one' swirl diffuser

Another innovation is an RFD swirl diffuser combined with a Sirius plenum box. The resulting unit is a diffuser, plenum box, volume flow controller and sound attenuator, all in one casing. By placing the circular VAV terminal unit right above the diffuser and using sound-absorbing materials we have created a very compact plenum box with excellent acoustic properties. This unit is particularly suitable as an inexpensive overall solution as it can save up to 50% when compared to individual components. The diffuser is available in nominal sizes from 200 to 400 and suitable for volume flow rates from 25 to 615 m³/h (7 – 170 l/s). Advantages include the unusually flat construction, reduced installation time due to only one fixing point, the fact that the diffuser face can be installed without any tools, and easy maintenance.

PURELINE – a clean solution

Another highlight is the newly developed range of PURELINE slot diffusers, unobtrusive products that blend in perfectly with any ceiling. Since the air discharge is adjustable, the diffusers are suitable for various applications, e.g. to provide a (vertical) air curtain to protect a fresh food counter. As a big plus, there is less contamination of the ceiling. All new slot diffusers are available with one or several slots and come in lengths of 600 mm to 2000 mm or from 600 mm to 1950 mm. The PL18 has a volume flow rate range of 17 to 300 m³/h (5 – 84 l/s), the PL35 of 27 to 710 m³/h (7 – 197 l/s).

SQUAIRLIGHT – Light and air beautifully combined

Combining air and light, i.e. air conditioning and lighting, is particularly easy with standard ceilings, and it can result in synergies. SQUAIRLIGHT diffusers are convincing air terminal devices, not only due to their appearance, but also due to their economical operation. Having the most modern LED lights built into a four-way diffuser reduces not only the installation time, it also saves operating costs.

DID-E2 – Ideal air-water systems for hotels and hospitals

DID-E2 is an advanced active chilled beam based on the proven DID-E active chilled beam; it is suitable for installation in bulkheads, e.g. in guest rooms in hotels or in patient rooms in hospitals. Since no condensate is formed, it meets increased hygiene requirements. The improved performance range allows it to respond quickly to temperature changes in boost mode. And it is whisper quiet since no fan is required. Its special nozzles create the most effective airflow, for high comfort levels in the occupied zone.
